What really happens in a hypnotherapy session in the Brisbane Office or Online anywhere in the world?

When people start thinking about hypnotherapy, they are usually at the end of their options trying to overcome issues around stop smoking or vaping, anxiety, fear, phobias, weight loss, confidence or self esteem, or a variety of other life challenges.

Unless you know someone who has had clinical hypnotherapy, you might have only seen hypnotists on stage making people do silly and funny things. This is definitely NOT what a clinical hypnotherapy session is like. Join me in exploring what a typical session might be for you, either in the Brisbane office or online anywhere in Australia or overseas.

Firstly, some Important Facts About Hypnotherapy

· It is a state of deep relaxation and you will still be conscious and able to hear me

· It is NOT mind control. You won’t be clucking like a chicken or anything like that after the session

Before Committing to a Hypnotherapy Session

It is important that before you even book in, that you sure you want to make the changes you are seeking. For example, your partner may have made an appointment for you to quit smoking or vaping, but if you are only attending to keep them happy and you don’t really want to quit, then the session probably won’t work. If you are committed to wanting to change, then you are in the right place.

You may have heard that hypnotherapy can help lots of people to break habits, overcome anxiety, stress, or even sleep better. You probably have lots of questions. Lets answer them here.

Your First Hypnotherapy Session

It starts with a conversation and discussion about what is going on for you:

· What is the challenge or issue you want to overcome?

· How has that been affecting your life?

· What have you done to try to overcome this – what has worked or not worked so far?

· What are your goals in overcoming this?

· How will your life be different after?

This is also your time to ask questions, share any information you wish. Your sessions are completely confidential and without judgement. I have been doing this work for a very long time and my goal is to support you in every way I can.

Start of Hypnosis Session

We may commence with some simple activities to engage your subconscious mind to relax and be receptive to the hypnosis process.

When you are ready, I will invite you to close your eyes (if that feels comfortable) and simply follow my voice. It is not about “falling under” or “loosing control” – it is about focusing your mind in a way that feels surprisingly easy. You might feel it is like drifting in a dreamy state between waking and sleeping. You can still move, speak, or open your eyes, and you will feel deeply relaxed.

The first part of the session is moving you into a deep relaxed state so we can commence the therapy part. This is where we can communicate with the subconscious or unconscious mind, the part that runs your habits, emotions, and automatic reactions. The process helps:

· Reframe an old memory so it no longer holds you back

· Plants powerful suggestions for new habits and ways of thinking

· Strengthens beliefs, such as you can feel calm, confident, and in control

· Reframe habits so they are no longer appealing

Coming Back to the Room

Once we finish the therapy side of the hypnosis session, I will gently guide you back to the room to a state of full alertness. Often people will report feeling amazing, calm, and in control. You will definitely feel the powerful shifts over the next few days. We will discuss your feelings and emotions feel different, and how you felt the session went.

After our discussion, we will together set some action plans on how to cement the changes into your mind and body. Many conditions may only need one session to make significant changes, and other conditions may need more session, such as weight loss.
